Fashion Files: Mo does Curly Hair Magazine Launch Event

Hey all, I was privileged to be invited to a UK natural hair event. It was the launch of @curlyhairmag's first printed magazine. Guys I had sooo much fun at the event, but that will all come in a separate blog post. First things first !

What she wore:

I decided to go for a classy look that could be easily dressed down with flats if need be.
I had just taken out my cornrows (hair stretching technique) as I had washed my hair a couple of days prior. I was due to do two big plaits and plant my wig on top of it, then I had an epiphany lol. Im going to a natural hair event but trying to cover up my natural hair?

I looked outside of the window and saw grey clouds - yikes
I checked on my weather app and saw high chances of rain - double yikes
I decided to be brave in the end, whether or not I end up looking like my brother by the end of the day, at least Ill start off looking like me lol.

And voila - I went for a simple middle parting, clipped small sections down on both sides and let the rest of my hair go wild.

My sister aka photographer was probably doing something annoying at this point lol. Hence my face.

Lets carry on shall we:

Up close and personal - just so you can see the colours better.

Okay.. are you ready now?

daz berrer..

I must have mentioned in my haul how excited I was to style this blazer. Although it was a dull day, I love the contrasting effect my outfit had. Simple pastels; lilac, peach, with a white undertone and a quick dash of black (heels) !

Unlooking lol

#DearChunks What should I expect from my Course in University?

I received this dilemma and thought it would be beneficial to other upcoming university students: Have a read ..

My Response: Hello Hun, first of all id like to apologise for my very late response! This month has been beyond busy for me!

I do go to university of Leicester, that's great hopefully we'll bump into eachother at some point then !

I study Medical Physiology, so I'm in the biological sciences department..

That's a little bit far off financial economics but I know we have a mentor programme in the ACS where older students doing a certain course would look after first year students. If you would like I could pass on your details.

However for general expectations.. I found university was a big step up from secondary school. It is true what they say the ALevels are the hardest part. By university provided you have done well in your ALevels you should have more or less cracked 'it'. It being the formula for your learning. If not I believe this summer is a good time to learn the things you don't know about yourself.

University is not hard but it is strenuous. It requires a lot of time and dedication. There will be deadline after deadline which is why you will need to manage your time well and keep on top of your reading.

This is because lectures are fast paced and it is easy to miss one or two things. A way to get around this is to print off your lecture slides prior to the lecture. These will be made available to you on black board at least 24 hours before. I normally do it the night before for all my lectures. So investing in a printer is a good idea as trips to the library aren't always ideal. So during the lectures I'll annotate the slides and make sure I am listening attentively. After the lecture I go through those notes and make additional notes. Maybe from a lecture recording or textbook research. I made sure I kept up with this. This has to be a daily thing, if ever I didn't get a chance to complete my notes, I'd do it on Wednesday as we have Wednesday afternoons off for sporting activities - which no one really does lol. Next catch up for me was Friday night. I'd always work till morning so I could have a lay in on Saturday. Weekends are for assignments and also blogging for me lol

So you see it's about finding what works for you and according to your personal schedule. If you need me to be a mentor for you outside of your course mentor I will be more than happy to do so ! I managed to get a first class for first year and I'd like to push others to aim for that too..

If you're looking for more ideas on social expectations then head over to my YouTube channel and watch 'My University Experience' it should be helpful. The link in on my Twitter bio!

Hope this helps,
Love chunks xx

Fashion Files: Mo Does Graduation !

So I thought i'd start posting some of my outfits on my blog spot. I do post a lot on instagram (@mo_chunkaay) but for those who don't have it ! Pictures taken on my camera rather than my iphone will be for here aswell !

OOTD: Full Frontal

Palazzos! BIG trend this summer. Literally. They are huge. FLARES, yes flares. The one word a lot of people don't want to hear, talk less of wearing lol. I purchased mine from PrettyLittleThings.com. My fave store for summer items atm.

My full outfit actually happened by accident or improvisation. I'd initially wanted t tone the lime green palazzos with a plain colour: Grey. I had a grey crop top in mind but forgot to pack it in my suitcase. I found this pretty white lace crop top instead (cant remember where I got it from) and paired it up with a white sleeveless blazer for decency.

How about some blogger style pictures. The scenery was so beautiful, had a New York type feel to it.

Some cool window shots:

A day filled with Pride, Joy and Laughter: Family graduation recap!

The 15th of July 2015 was a beautiful day for a graduation. The sun was out to compete with the bright smiles of friends, family and of course the recipients themselves of their various honours. I came to celebrate with a few students in particular namely Nyasha Masango and Morenike. Although myself, and most people were viewing the action in the main auditorium through a plasma TV, the joy in our hearts remained in high projection. One by one, each student was called to receive their certificate. To some this was just a piece of paper, whilst others marched to receive their badge of honour, a representation of the hard work (or lack of) that has occurred over their university years. Anyway enough of the grammar. I captured some beautiful moments, as well as some eye catching fashion displayed through the day.Enjoy !

My OOTD. I will give details in a separate blog post!
